Kureyka River
July 2005.

I'm, Norby and Mykola, one of Ukrainian diaspora in Svetlogorsk. I had real help and support from him, especially in finding some boat in order to move towards Plato Putorana against the stream of Kureyka River.

Water temperature is +4C.

And really, islands are beautiful, so small, so wild, but one aspect is invisible, there are billions of mosquitos... no matter.

Boarding. There is local fisherman's boat and I have cruised about 200km with this boat.

That rainbow born from a small cloud. There, on the North, the weather could change in a few minutes.

Siberian Mother Nature is extremal strong, just one mistake and you've end of the way... or life.

Exotic view, as for me that time. Summer, July and mountains in snow.

One of my favourit photos. One of those mystical nights. Sometimes it seams that you're somewhere on the another planet.

Mountains Putorana early morning.

It seams that Norby is a littile bit confused by reality and thinking about home.

During the night the air is even 5-6 times colder, than during the day.

That clouds... it seams tomorrow the weather will be not so good.

It is fantastic! Isn't it?

Water reflets sky or sky reflets water?

Rocks.

A special kind of gold northern nights.

I shouldn't paddle, because I have a strong engine, 1 tp (trout power :-)

What's happen?! That wind from anywhere???

Typical shore of the Kureyka River. A lot of mosquitos there. You always should paddle at least 50m from the shore in order to avoid them.

It still no end. I have paddled 3 days and nights, without any food, I just had water from the river (it's absolutely pure) and just a few stops for 10-15 minutes.

And in a two minutes I had most dangerous situation in my life. I met tornado on the open water. I thought I already dead, but I mistaken... it is separate talk.

Kureyka's waterway.

It is a place where I lost my way, so wide was Kureyka River. As result I lost also 1 day in finding right drection, my map was useless, because it wasn't responding to reality (be careful having a map from the Internet).

See you, Kureyka River!!!

Dead birches islands.

I had luck, wind helps me.

Tiptur Mount.

What a beautiful islands, I thought.
